The Special
Education Cycle
Did you know special education is both a process and cycle?
Whether you’re new to the voyage or knee-deep in IEPs, understanding the process will give you clarity and vision to navigate your child’s educational plan. Understanding the IEP process puts you in the driver’s seat ensuring your child will make meaningful progress.

Not every special education attorney, IEP advocate, or IEP coach has the same experience with your child's needs or age and grade. In addition, it's important to ask if your candidates have experience working in your school district (despite any disagreements and/or due process cases). Having little experience with your child's learning needs or unfamiliarity with their school district may be a red flag signaling the candidate isn't the best fit. Remember, who you hire works for you!

The IEP and 504 Plan share a common foundation - providing a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). This means schools must offer an education that addresses your child's unique needs, preparing them for further education, employment, and independent living. But choosing the correct path for your child can be confusing, and that's where we can help. Download our 504 vs. IEP Eligibility Comparison Guide today to get started choosing the right path for your child.
